The Himilo Homework Club is an after school program available to school aged students. It has been in progress for 18 months and currently runs on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4-5:30pm. It involves a team of 20 plus dedicated volunteers.
Homework club aims to support school aged students to improve learner confidence, motivation and outcomes. It also aims to build independent learning capacities and support connection to Australian Somali community and broader community.
Homework club provides a learning environment opportunity to improve learning outcomes in literacy, numeracy, English and Mathematics. It also provides an opportunity for students to improve their skills and knowledge around time management, organisation, communication, critical and higher order thinking and problem solving.
