Abdirahman’s parents fled civil war in Somalia, arriving in Kenya in 1990. Abdirahman was born in Kenya where he spent the first two years of his childhood before his family was sponsored by an uncle already living in Australia under a humanitarian visa. After being granted access they made their journey to Australia in 1994 to begin their new life. Abdirahman kicked off his professional career in soccer where he played for many big name clubs such as South Melbourne and Heidelberg United before later turning to Futsal which he is now an Australian Champion.

Following his passion, he joined his local community soccer club, Heidelberg Starts as a coach and mentor to younger players. He then joined Himilo Community Connect, fulfilling his role as a Project Officer and program Coordinator for Himilo Active.
